The Fairmont Royal York: Staycation

During Covid it’s been a nightmare trying to plan trips and gatherings with friends and loved ones. Mike and I realized earlier on we need to start getting creative if we want to still enjoy the freedom we have left. Though we can’t travel internationally, we are learning to love and enjoy what’s right here in our own backyard. We moved to Toronto a year ago but never truly got to explore the city and everything that it has to offer. Though I was born in London, UK, and raised in Toronto I have never truly experienced Toronto properly as an adult, so this has been an exciting and new experience for us both.

A few months back we decided to staycation at one of Toronto’s five star luxury hotels, The Fairmont Royal York; situated right in the heart of downtown. The Fairmont was, for lack of better word, exquisite! With 19th century English architecture, grande pillars and paintings/photos of past and present English Royalty, this hotel will transport you from the hustle and bustle of Toronto city life to the regal streets of London, England.

We stayed in the newly renovated Gold King Suite which has its own private entrance and check in. This was accompanied with the use of an exclusive private lounge for those guests staying in the gold suites. If you’re looking for a place to stay in the heart of Toronto you must check out The Fairmont Royal York and make sure you stay in their new Gold suites, I promise you won’t regret it.

Here are a few photos and tips from our very memorable stay! Definitely planning our next stay soon!

Private Entry and Lounge area for Gold Suites:

The Fairmont Royal York Gold Suite:

First Room – Separate Lounge Area:

The decor is clean and super modern, we absolutely loved it and the gorgeous painting you see hanging above the sofa actually inspired a painting we later purchased for our new home.

Second Room in Suite (Bedroom):

I love that the sleeping area is separate from the sitting area as it worked so well for Mike and I. Both rooms were exceptionally clean, roomy, light and airy.

Suite Bathroom:

The bathroom was my absolute favourite!!! It was huge and included a separate area for the toilet which is perfect for double use. The gorgeous white and grey marble accented countertops with gold frames gave the perfect luxury feel. There is nothing like an incredible bathroom to relax in when you’re away from home.

Room Service – Breakfast:

First off kudos to the chef! The food was superb! For foodies like Mike and I who have ridiculously high standards we were so happy with the quality and taste of the food! It was probably one of my favourite room service menus to date and trust me when I say I’ve stayed at my fair share of 4 and 5 star hotels so I have a pretty good idea of what qualifies as good room service. 🙂

Room Service Dinner:

Mid Day Delights:

Clockwork Terrace:

For our final night we dolled up and dined in at the sensational Clockwork Terrace restaurant situated on the main floor of the hotel and explored the beautiful grounds. The staff were a delight, super friendly and went above and beyond to satisfy our requests. Mike even made friends with one of the servers who happened to be from Europe as well. A lovely chap he was! 🙂

Like I said perviously, if you haven’t already stayed at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto or have but haven’t stayed in their new Gold rooms it’s a definite must and the perfect place to staycation or vacation for internationals.

Comment below if you have stayed at the Fairmont and how did you enjoy your stay!? 🙂
